How Brands Can Discover Relevant Influencers
Engageily Team · Published October 14, 2026
The most visible creators are rarely the best fit. A good partnership starts with a clear goal and a short, relevant list. This is a process you can repeat for every campaign.
1. Define the goal and the audience
Write one sentence: "We want [type of customer] to [do something] after seeing [product]." Awareness, sign-ups and sales call for different creators and formats.
2. Filter on fit before size
- Niche and topic: does their content naturally include your category?
- Platform: where does your customer spend time?
- Location and language: where is the creator based, and which languages do they use?
- Format: do they offer what you want (Reels, long video, Stories, UGC)?
- Budget: compare creators' stated starting rates with your budget. Rates are provided by the creator, so treat them as a starting point.
The Engageily Creators directory filters by platform, niche, country and city, language, audience size, collaboration format and rate, and shows which numbers are verified.
3. Check the numbers that can be checked
Verified figures come from the platform; typed-in figures are the creator's claim. Look at engagement relative to audience size and the recent posts used to calculate it. A smaller audience with strong engagement and a precise niche can beat a larger, general one.
4. Read the content
Spend ten minutes on their recent posts. Look at tone, quality, how they handle past partnerships and the comments. Does the audience respond to recommendations?
5. Shortlist and organise
Save creators to lists, add notes and group them by campaign. Keep five to ten strong options per campaign rather than hundreds of maybes.
6. Start with a clear brief
Share the goal, product, deliverables, timeline, budget range and any must-haves. Say what you are flexible on. Clear briefs lead to faster, better replies.
Questions to ask before you reach out
- Does this creator already talk about products like ours, and how does their audience respond?
- What did their last partnerships look like, and did they feel honest?
- Can they deliver the format and timeline we need?
- What usage rights do we need, and for how long?
Working with agencies
Agencies manage many campaigns and creators, so shortlists, notes and campaign organisation matter. Keep one list per campaign, record status as you contact creators, and use a shared brief so every conversation starts from the same facts.
Respect creators' time
Be specific, state the budget range when you can, reply to answers promptly and agree the scope in writing. Creators remember brands that are clear and fair.
7. Measure and learn
Agree in advance how you will judge the result, such as tracked links or codes, and review it together afterwards. Repeat with creators who delivered.
